jill harvey MSW, RSW
Social Worker, Psychotherapist

Academic training:
I am a graduate of the University of Toronto (Toronto, Ontario) where I received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. I hold a Masters in Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work (Northampton, Massachusetts). My Masters thesis explored affirmative practices for working with and supporting gender independent and transgender children and their families. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers.
Clinical Training:
I completed clinical training at the Hincks Dellcrest Centre (now SickKids Centre for Community Mental Health), as well as York University, Counselling & Disability Services. My therapeutic approach is grounded in a relational orientation and combines post-graduate training in narrative therapy, trauma-informed treatment, cognitive behavioural therapy, and contemporary research in neurobiology, mindfulness and self-compassion. I approach psychotherapy as a highly collaborative and transparent process and offer both brief and long-term services.
Clinical Experience:
I have a longstanding interest and extensive experience working with children, adolescents, young adults and families in hospital, mental health, and university settings. As a physical therapist, I worked clinically for many years at the Hospital for Sick Children, and was a lecturer, course coordinator, researcher and student advisor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto.
As a clinical social worker, I worked as a senior social worker at the Hincks Dellcrest Centre providing individual child, adolescent and family therapy. More recently, I worked at the University of Toronto, St George campus, as a counselling program coordinator with the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work and as a member of the mental health care team of Health & Wellness. I oversaw an in-person and online counselling service, supervised a team of Masters of Social Work practicum students, and provided counselling and psychotherapy support to university students.
